WHY BLISS, RESTAURANT?

“Who was not there can not feel who was there can not describe it.”

Siargao Island has captivated us from the first moment. There is a flair that is difficult to put into words. Maybe adjectives like carefree, authentic, cozy, friendly and open are a start, but there are things you just have to experience to feel them. For us it was impressive how the satisfied islanders live their day without stress and worry. How to spend the rest of the day in front of their hut after work, such as fishing or vegetable growing, just to look happy and content.

Fortunately, both of us have the privilege of growing up in Switzerland, having good education and having social security through a good job and the social system … But not all of them have that opportunity. After all, we can not choose where and in what environment we are born … All the more it touched us that the inhabitants of Siargao are happy with little (good and good) and welcome everyone with open arms. And exactly on this island we want to make a difference! Be it by creating jobs, supporting children with charity actions, passing on know-how or showing tourists the beautiful island and sharing magical moments with them.

Also worth mentioning is the natural landscape. The pristine white beaches, lagoons, waterfalls, coconut trees as well as mangroves and rainforests invite you to explore. In addition, surfing at Cloud9 surfing spot guarantees beginners and advanced surfers wonderful and warm feelings of happiness, just leave your worries behind, take a break from everyday life, do some sports or go on an expedition … “BLISS” on the island of Siargao will be an unforgettable place for you all travelers from Switzerland and the rest of the world. Half-Swiss, half-Filipina ... I feel at home in both countries. Through my training, my job in the field of human resources and education and a startup in Switzerland I could learn a lot ... I am happy, I was allowed to grow up here, benefit from the Swiss educational landscape and enjoy this great standard of living. Now I want to give something back to the locals in the Philippines ... above all create jobs, pass on know-how, employ them for better employment conditions or make a difference in the form of sponsorships.

I love living out my creativity in the kitchen. The mix of years of experience in renowned restaurants as well as in the inns (home cooking) benefits me and my creations.  Every dish of mine is prepared with passion and prepared with pride. While other series watches on Netflix, I could watch a braised roast in the oven for hours. My goal is to offer our guests a culinary highlight with my culinary art. The dishes should not only taste fine and look good but also lead to good conversations, strengthen a cosy get-together and arouse the openness of the guests to taste something new.

What speaks for my cooking?

I don’t just cook for our guests. Every dish I am and that’s why I cook it for myself too.  And for me, only the best is always in question.

BLISS FOODCONTAINER WIRD ZUM RESTAURANT

Food container – History:

The idea of a food truck came about out of sheer coincidence. We originally wanted to transport possible materials and goods from the mainland to Siargao. As usual, we google possible variants and prices. First, a container for sale appeared on the OLX page as the search result. Out of curiosity, we visited the homepage and then found an entry where containers are converted into food trucks, store concepts and apartments. The recycling thought and the many different options we liked very much … Although we did not yet have explicit thoughts on how we would use such a container, we still got in touch with the provider. Since then, we have maintained close cooperation with the provider or the construction company. In the meantime, they are also building our bungalows in addition to the aforementioned food truck.

Food containers – Idea and Location:

During the coming construction phase, the desire arose as quickly as possible actively. Especially chef Winnie missed acting in the kitchen. This is how the decision was made to make us a food truck as a kitchen provisional. First, we wanted to place the food truck on our property and offer small takeaway menus. Due to the coming construction noise and rather quiet location, we have opted for a lease on the most frequented highway. We have found a great place where, in addition to the food truck, we also have a small cottage to stay.

Food container – Restaurant

Due to the infrastructure and the restaurant kitchen, the original takeaway container always transforms into a restaurant like more. With the small bungalow houses as an extension, we even offer our guests covered seats and a lounge as well as hammock to relax in. The roof of the container also offers us further seating … With a staircase for on the roof, drinks and snacks can even be sipped and mowed under the palm trees. The whole thing is topped with a great view of the sea and the distance. The optimal location on the highway allows us to gain a level of awareness during the construction phase. Thus, even before the opening of the resort, our guests become aware of the BLISS brand and can be pampered even earlier by Chef Winnie’s cooking skills.

Food Truck-Offer

We are happy to spoil our guests with a great breakfast offer, individual bowl dishes, and Chef Winnie’s classics. Variety, creativity, and zero-waste of food are our requirements. For these reasons, Chef Winnie will put together extra highlight dishes in the evenings and conjure them up on the plates. The small selection of his creations is accompanied in the evening by the classics. Whether Asian or European snacks or dessert, vegetarian or vegan, something is intended for everyone.
